It's all about the food!
I got this really big box of Rice Crispy cereal when it was on sale. The only problem is that I don't really like Rice Crispies. But...but...but it was on sale. I had to buy it!
So after it sat there for a week or two, unopened, I figured I should do something with it so it didn't go to waste. I thought about Rice Crispy squares, but to me, they seem like something you take to a kid's party. It's not really a "grown up" treat.
Think, think, think. How can I modify this? Hmmm...maybe instead of marshmellows, I can use a different bonding agent to put the squares together.
I know, Mars bars! They have all the necessary ingredients to make this work. Chocolate, caramel, nougat....this is going to be great!
4 to 5 Mars bars (or similar type with chocolate, caramel & nougat)
1/2 cup of butter or margarine
3 cups of Rice Crispy cereal
(plus extra butter or margarine for greasing pan)
1 270 gram bag of milk chocolate chocolate chips
Tip: If you are having difficulty cutting them, leave the pan at room temperature until they soften up just a bit. Or as long as the chocolate topping is still hard, you can loosen the sides of the pan and turn it out onto a cutting board before cutting.
I was born in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and spent the first half my life there. I became a mom just after I turned 20 and within a couple of years, decided to move from a small town to a bigger city to take advantage of better job opportunities. After a few great jobs, I finally settled in at a legal publishing company. 13 years later, I'm still there.
